How do we teach medical students and GP registrars about spiritual needs and interventions to meet those needs?
T8001 9th April 08 Claire Pollin
Mike has been invited to teach post grads.
We don't know if any undergraduate degrees currently include a module on spirituality/whole person care.
Annie and Fiona have had sessions with medical students talking about the role of chaplains. Could nursing students be included?
I wondered about whether a session at the VTS might be an option-teaching a wider group of GP trainees, happens on a thursday afternoon at selly oak. Deanery also run one day 'curriculum days' for all west mids GP trainees. May be able to run a seminar at one of those?
How to get whole person care into the mainstream curriculum?

I do not think that Spirituality is included in the curriculum. The area we include it in is the community care slot under bereavement and mental health. As to nurses training I think this would be good. I speak to nurses on an individual basis and they refer to me.
